Okay, Take....23!

Okay I'm a failure at blogging. I admit it. I try and try to keep up with it, but honestly, I think the reason I don't is because I just don't have enough exciting things going on in my life. It's pretty sad that the last interesting thing to write about was the World Series. I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We spent ours with Mom's extended family. It's been a while since we spent the Holidays with relatives, so it was...interesting. Overall, though, it was a good day.

The weather's been ridiculous! I wasn't complaining until it started making everyone sick. The entire winter so far has seen temperatures from 32-71. Insane. I'm fine with 70's in January, but it's the 70 one day, 45 the next, and 32 the next that's hard to deal with. And then just when everyone's starting to get used to the cold weather, the temperature shoots back up to 65. So far, we haven't gotten much snow. That's okay with me. After Christmas, snow just gets in the way.

the result of one of the "4 major snow storms" we were *supposed* to get in December

The first semester of school went extremely...okay. I didn't flunk out of college, so it's all good right? My goal this semester is straight A's.

I have an entire month off for Break, and the first week all I did was sleep 'til noon and watch TV. Other than that I did absolutely nothing. By week two I had caught up on all my shows (and watched all of Season 4 of Jersey Shore). I was sick of watching TV. Week two was my busiest week. Emily (my best friend and other half) was in town for Christmas so we got to hang out for the first time in 5 months which was fabulous. I miss her so much. I basically spent the entire week in Lincoln County. Which makes it probably the best week so far. I ran things out to/picked things up from my grandma, and since Emily was staying out there, we hung out up there, and ended up going to my friend Jake's house to hang out.
my best friend and other half. I don't know what I'd do without her.

we're also the world's biggest dorks

New Year's Eve was pretty good. I drove out to Lincoln County to drop stuff off to my grandma. It was a gorgeous day (sunny and 65) so I kept driving...and driving...and driving...ended up making an hour and a half 100 mile circle through 3 counties. it was great. I needed to get out of the city, and people, and crowds, and just be alone for a while. In the country with country music. Talk about  therapeutic.

I've been getting really bad headaches the past month or so (probably cause I lost my glasses and ran out of contacts...oops) so I really all I felt like doing was going home and going to bed early (suuuuper lame, I know). When I got home I took some Excedrin, and started feeling better. Jake had wanted to know if I wanted to go with him to his friend's for New Year's Eve. Since my headache was gone I didn't feel like being a loser anymore, so i drove out there again around 10:30 that night. Week two was a good week.

Week three started out pretty good. That Monday was Neener's 21 birthday. That Tuesday I started not feeling to hot when I was at work. I figured I was just getting a cold, so I didn't really pay attention to it. Wednesday I woke up with a really bad sore throat.

Again, I just figured it was a bad cold, 'cause i hadn't gotten strep in so long. I wasn't feeling very good, so that night Jake came over to keep me company. Thursday I woke up and could barely talk. My throat was so swollen, and it felt like i had swallowed glass. So Dad took me to the clinic at Walgreens for a strep test. That was negative, but the Nurse Practitioner said my throat looked so bad, she didn't understand how I didn't have strep. So she diagnosed it as tonsillitis, and put me on penicillin, and told me I wasn't allowed to work the rest of the week.

Well, my throat wasn't getting better. I took the medicine religiously, stayed in bed, drank lots of fluids, did everything I could do to get better. Sunday morning I woke up and literally felt like I was dying. My throat was so swollen, I was afraid it was going to cut of my air. That afternoon, Mom talked to the clinic, and they said it could be a virus, which means that the medicine won't help and I just have to wait and let it run its course. Mom talked to several other nurses, and eventually my doctor said it could be mono, and I needed to go in and get a blood test.

Guess what. Yep, I have mono. It's not extremely severe. Other than having a sore throat that feels like death, I don't have really anything else wrong with me. I'm really tired, and sleep a lot. Just things like going up the stairs, or taking a shower completely wear me out. There's a chance, though, that if I'm not significantly better by next week, I'll miss the first week of school. I really hope that doesn't happen. I'm doing everything I can to get better quickly. I'm staying in bed, not really moving a lot, drinking tons of fluids, still taking the penicillin (just so I don't get anything else on top of it), and sleeping A LOT, doing salt water gargles, and using this nasty throat spray, and just about anything else I can think of. I've been home in bed everyday since last Wednesday.
The one day I did manage to get out of the house (Saturday) I went to the mall with Becca and Kelsie. They had some shopping they needed to do then we went to Red Robin. Our server was...cranky. To put in nicely. I think she overheard us complaining about her, cause she came back to our table really nice and sweet. Obviously overdoing it. On the bright side we got free bread stuff, she gave us free drinks, and then this guy came out and gave us free fries.
yay for nerds!
I think that's about it for now. One of my resolutions is to actually keep up with this, and I promise I'll do better. Hope y'all have  a good week!
