It's pretty sad when 90 degrees can be considered a cool front. Sometimes it feel like it's never going to be cold again...and we're only 12 days into summer. yuck. The heat would be tolerable if we could have some breaks. Like, maybe 3 or 4 days of heavy rain. We would all greatly appreciate it. As all St. Louisans know, though, it's not really the heat, it's the humidity. An 85 degree day in St. Louis can be ten times worse than a 115 degree day in, say, Arizona. But enough complaining...that won't help anything. What we need is a state-wide rain dance.
I think picturless posts can be boring most of the time. But that's what I'm stuck with right now since I killed my poor BlackBerry...again. I am bad news for smart phones. The poor things don't stand a chance when I'm around. I can't help it, though. I try to be careful. I really do. I suppose I could use an actual camera to take pictures...imagine that...but that seems like a lot of work.
There really hasn't been a whole lot going on the past six months. I finished my first year of college, and am taking a year off to decide what i want to do with my life. Yep, still in that boat. All I know is that it will be something with agriculture...which field though, is still unknown.
Uh oh, my computer's about to die. And of course I picked the only booth at Bread Co. without an outlet.
Have a good week!

Can't Hide It
Alright, so I've been feeling A LOT better the past couple days. Mom even let me out of the house yesterday. ;) It was only for about an hour, but hey, I'll take it. I got to drive for the first time today. That was pretty exciting. I thought I might of forgotten how to drive, but it's all good. Carter thought I'd abandoned him. But we talked it out, and things are good now.
So where did I go on my first official day of freedom? Yep, of course. I went to Walmart. I also put a check in the bank, and went to Bread Co. for a mango smoothie. I left the house around 11:30 full of energy. Came home at 2, and had to take a nap. My energy had vanished. Yep, still sick, I guess. I slept for almost 2 hours. Geez Louise. I cannot wait to be back to normal.
Actually, I can't wait to go back to school. I feel like my brain melted and spilled out over break. Especially since I was sick, and all I could do was watch TV and sleep. I need to use my brain again before it forgets how to work. I had to drop my Communications though, at least for now. Since Mono takes a long time to recover from, Mom and Dad are afraid of me getting too run down with school and work, so I had to cut back. And since that's the class that I don't absolutely have to have, it was the one to go. It's kind of sad though, I was really looking forward to that class. I was also going to take French 202, since all of my friends from 201 were going to be in it...but that's going to happen either. Oh well. I guess I'd rather not end up in the hospital.
Okay, I guess that's it. I'm watching a Simon Cowell biography, and it's quite fascinating. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :)

Too Good to Last
I guess I should've known the warm weather wouldn't stay. Yesterday, it was sunny with a high of 55. And today...
We only got about an inch, but since we do live in Missouri, no one knows how to drive in snow. Apparently, the highways are a mess and shut down. It took my sister two and a half hours to get to school today. We only live 15 minutes away. All the public schools around here are shut down. For an *inch* of snow. In these pictures you can still see grass.
I searched all over Facebook and found this:
i think i may need to wash my car. |
My backyard last year |
aaaaaand:
my backyard this year. |
yeah. Now you know why I feel a little...cramped here. Oh well.
I found out this morning that the company Hostess is filing for bankruptcy protection. It seems like our childhood keeps slipping away. remember VHS tapes? The 4 year old that I babysit saw one and had no idea what it was. I never thought things would make me feel old. Ya know what I mean? I remember before DVDs even existed.
Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better today, so I'm going to try to get something productive done today while I don't feel like passing out. Stay warm everyone!

Okay, Take....23!
Okay I'm a failure at blogging. I admit it. I try and try to keep up with it, but honestly, I think the reason I don't is because I just don't have enough exciting things going on in my life. It's pretty sad that the last interesting thing to write about was the World Series. I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We spent ours with Mom's extended family. It's been a while since we spent the Holidays with relatives, so it was...interesting. Overall, though, it was a good day.
The weather's been ridiculous! I wasn't complaining until it started making everyone sick. The entire winter so far has seen temperatures from 32-71. Insane. I'm fine with 70's in January, but it's the 70 one day, 45 the next, and 32 the next that's hard to deal with. And then just when everyone's starting to get used to the cold weather, the temperature shoots back up to 65. So far, we haven't gotten much snow. That's okay with me. After Christmas, snow just gets in the way.
The first semester of school went extremely...okay. I didn't flunk out of college, so it's all good right? My goal this semester is straight A's.
I have an entire month off for Break, and the first week all I did was sleep 'til noon and watch TV. Other than that I did absolutely nothing. By week two I had caught up on all my shows (and watched all of Season 4 of Jersey Shore). I was sick of watching TV. Week two was my busiest week. Emily (my best friend and other half) was in town for Christmas so we got to hang out for the first time in 5 months which was fabulous. I miss her so much. I basically spent the entire week in Lincoln County. Which makes it probably the best week so far. I ran things out to/picked things up from my grandma, and since Emily was staying out there, we hung out up there, and ended up going to my friend Jake's house to hang out.
New Year's Eve was pretty good. I drove out to Lincoln County to drop stuff off to my grandma. It was a gorgeous day (sunny and 65) so I kept driving...and driving...and driving...ended up making an hour and a half 100 mile circle through 3 counties. it was great. I needed to get out of the city, and people, and crowds, and just be alone for a while. In the country with country music. Talk about therapeutic.
I've been getting really bad headaches the past month or so (probably cause I lost my glasses and ran out of contacts...oops) so I really all I felt like doing was going home and going to bed early (suuuuper lame, I know). When I got home I took some Excedrin, and started feeling better. Jake had wanted to know if I wanted to go with him to his friend's for New Year's Eve. Since my headache was gone I didn't feel like being a loser anymore, so i drove out there again around 10:30 that night. Week two was a good week.
Week three started out pretty good. That Monday was Neener's 21 birthday. That Tuesday I started not feeling to hot when I was at work. I figured I was just getting a cold, so I didn't really pay attention to it. Wednesday I woke up with a really bad sore throat.
Again, I just figured it was a bad cold, 'cause i hadn't gotten strep in so long. I wasn't feeling very good, so that night Jake came over to keep me company. Thursday I woke up and could barely talk. My throat was so swollen, and it felt like i had swallowed glass. So Dad took me to the clinic at Walgreens for a strep test. That was negative, but the Nurse Practitioner said my throat looked so bad, she didn't understand how I didn't have strep. So she diagnosed it as tonsillitis, and put me on penicillin, and told me I wasn't allowed to work the rest of the week.
Well, my throat wasn't getting better. I took the medicine religiously, stayed in bed, drank lots of fluids, did everything I could do to get better. Sunday morning I woke up and literally felt like I was dying. My throat was so swollen, I was afraid it was going to cut of my air. That afternoon, Mom talked to the clinic, and they said it could be a virus, which means that the medicine won't help and I just have to wait and let it run its course. Mom talked to several other nurses, and eventually my doctor said it could be mono, and I needed to go in and get a blood test.
Guess what. Yep, I have mono. It's not extremely severe. Other than having a sore throat that feels like death, I don't have really anything else wrong with me. I'm really tired, and sleep a lot. Just things like going up the stairs, or taking a shower completely wear me out. There's a chance, though, that if I'm not significantly better by next week, I'll miss the first week of school. I really hope that doesn't happen. I'm doing everything I can to get better quickly. I'm staying in bed, not really moving a lot, drinking tons of fluids, still taking the penicillin (just so I don't get anything else on top of it), and sleeping A LOT, doing salt water gargles, and using this nasty throat spray, and just about anything else I can think of. I've been home in bed everyday since last Wednesday.
The one day I did manage to get out of the house (Saturday) I went to the mall with Becca and Kelsie. They had some shopping they needed to do then we went to Red Robin. Our server was...cranky. To put in nicely. I think she overheard us complaining about her, cause she came back to our table really nice and sweet. Obviously overdoing it. On the bright side we got free bread stuff, she gave us free drinks, and then this guy came out and gave us free fries.

yay for nerds! |
I think that's about it for now. One of my resolutions is to actually keep up with this, and I promise I'll do better. Hope y'all have a good week!

Cardinal Nation!
5 minute countdown!! Scotty McCreery just sang the National Anthem. He was...amazing, as usual. Not gonna lie, you could see the poor kid's nerves all over his face, but once he started singing, you'd never know it. He sounded like he'd been doing it his whole life. Scotty was on The BULL this morning...which I missed. But I watched the interview a couple hours ago. If there's any Scotty McCreery fans reading, you can find the interview here.
I had a whole post I wrote last night, but for some reason my Blackberry wouldn't send it. Grr technology...Anyway it really wasn't anything important. I just needed something to do while I sat at QT waiting for my car to start. Because Saturn is dumb and fails at life. I didn't know until a couple years ago that QT is apparently a local thing. Basically QT (or Quick Trip) is the god of all gas stations. They're always clean, and the people are friendly, and the bathrooms don't creep you out to use.
I'm selling my iPad and buying a laptop. I love love love my iPad, but there's things I need for college that the iPad just can't do. Soooo if anyone's interested email me (my e-mail's over there --->) I haven't decided on a price yet, but it will be fairly cheap (less than half what I paid).
Okay, well some people are coming over to watch the game and I'm missing bits and pieces of it so I'm gonna go. GO CARDS!!
*****okay so I can't figure out how to get my email on here, and I don't feel like messing with it right now, so just ignore that ^^up there^^ ;)

Why is Everyone So Surprised?
WHO'S IN THE WORLD SERIES?? THAT'S RIGHT! We are! GO CARDS!! WOOOOOOOT!! And how much will the news (not STL) say about it? "sports blah blah 10min. of how the brewers gave it there best shot sports blah blah 10. minutes about Texas sports blah blah ohyeahbythewaythecardinalsareintheworldseries blah blah blah" Oh well...no big deal right? that we are the BEST team in the National League. Or that we have some of the best player in baseball. No big deal.
Hey, do ya'll know what this means? Scotty McCreery will be in St. Louis on Wednesday. :D He's singing at the first game. Cool. Beans.
Let's see...college news. I had my psych midterm 2 weeks ago and the grades just got posted last night. I sincerely thought I failed. I guessed on half of it. My teacher said his test are pass/fail kinda thing. You either get an A or an F. Since I guessed on most of it, I assumed I would be on the F-side of the scale. But what did I get? A 92% That's right! I guess I'm a good guesser. ;) So I am a happy camper today. This week is DEFINITELY starting our on the right foot. :)
Alright, time to go meet with my advisor about classes next semester. Have a good week!
